Translate subtitles from a video

You do not need a separate caption file to start translating a video’s speech. In FlareClip’s subtitle translator, you can select your video, choose one target language and review the translated subtitles. The result is text or a subtitle file; it does not replace the speaker’s voice or render a new video.

1. Choose your video or subtitle file

Use a video you own or have permission to process. Select a supported MP4, MOV or WebM file and check the local preview and sound. If you already have an SRT or VTT file, you can use that instead. Keep the source. If a prompt offers to process only the opening, confirm that it covers the part you need before continuing.

2. Choose the language of the result

Select one target language for this task. The language of the page is not the same setting as the language you want to translate into. Simplified and Traditional Chinese are separate options. Follow the sign-in and allowance or cost information, then start the translation.

3. Check the words against the recording

For video input, speech is transcribed before translation. Read the result alongside the recording and check names, numbers, specialist terms and negatives. For example, losing “not” can reverse the meaning of a sentence. Do not assume text visible only in the picture has also been translated.

4. Check subtitle timing

Uploaded subtitle files retain their timestamps within the portion processed; timings derived from video speech may be approximate. Check the beginning, a middle passage and the ending against the same video. Make sure each line appears with the correct speech and that the intended material is covered. Correct wording or timing that needs work in a subtitle editor, then check it again.

5. Download the format you need

Choose SRT or VTT when you need subtitles with timestamps, or TXT for the translated words without timing. Use the download control and check the saved file. To display subtitles with a video, load the file into a player or editor that accepts that format. Downloading the translation does not automatically add it to the picture or create a dubbed soundtrack.
