How to make short clips from an online course
Turn one lesson into a short, useful explanation while keeping slides readable. Choose a single concept, include its prerequisites and example, then check the finished clip as a learner would.
Choose one learning goal
Write down what the viewer should understand after watching. “How to calculate a percentage change” is more focused than “an introduction to spreadsheets.” Keep the definition, the steps needed for the example, and the conclusion together. If a passage needs several earlier lessons, choose a simpler concept or include the minimum prerequisite explanation. Do not select only the final answer while removing how it was reached.
Prepare an authorized recording
Use your own course recording or one you have permission to edit and share, including any slides and third-party material it contains. Before uploading, remove student names, private chat messages and other personal information from the source if they should not appear in the clip. Keep an unchanged original. Open FlareClip’s clip workspace, upload an MP4, MOV or WebM, and check the file information.
Generate candidates and review the teaching sequence
Choose Course when the content-type control is shown and select an available duration range that can hold the explanation. Follow the account and processing prompts. In the results, watch candidates for your chosen learning goal rather than accepting a suggestion just because it opens with an interesting sentence. Check timing in the editor so the problem, worked example and result stay in the correct order.
Keep slides and demonstrations readable
Start by checking the original aspect ratio. A narrow vertical crop can hide the axis of a chart, a formula or a software control even if the presenter remains visible. Review any chosen framing through the whole clip. If the vertical view cannot retain the necessary material legibly, keep the original aspect ratio or choose a different passage. Check small labels at phone viewing size and keep captions clear of the information being explained.
Review captions and the exported lesson
Generate captions if needed and check technical terms, names and numbers against the spoken explanation. Do not rely on captions to restore a slide or a demonstration that has been cropped out. Follow any plan prompts when generating or exporting. Open the finished download and check sound, text and every example step. Give the clip a title that states the actual lesson and include the relevant prerequisite or full-course reference in the post when needed.
